{"id":210,"date":"2020-03-31T12:34:20","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T16:34:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annie.mathematicalthinking.org\/?p=210"},"modified":"2024-08-26T13:41:38","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T17:41:38","slug":"ncsms-free-virtual-conference-ncsm20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/annie.mathematicalthinking.org\/index.php\/2020\/03\/31\/ncsms-free-virtual-conference-ncsm20\/","title":{"rendered":"NCSM&#8217;s Free Virtual Conference #NCSM20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My thanks to everyone who came to my session during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mathedleadership.org\/events\/conferences\/virtual\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NCSM&#8217;s Free Virtual Conference<\/a>, and of course many thanks to NCSM and TI for making this happen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/annie.mathematicalthinking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PresentBadgeSession.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-212\" src=\"https:\/\/annie.mathematicalthinking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PresentBadgeSession.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"335\" height=\"545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/annie.mathematicalthinking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PresentBadgeSession.png 335w, https:\/\/annie.mathematicalthinking.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PresentBadgeSession-184x300.png 184w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In case you hadn&#8217;t guessed, doing a webinar as a presenter is NOT like doing a session live, mainly in that I can&#8217;t have any focused back-and-forth with the attendees (and I can&#8217;t see anyone!).\u00a0 But there was great participation in the chat, and having that channel of communication going on adds a whole new dimension to learning &#8211; instead of just talking to your learning partner when I ask you to, you can talk to everyone the whole time, while also taking notes, tweeting, taking screenshots, and drinking (hopefully good) coffee.\u00a0 I hope that those of you who are now responsible for &#8220;teaching&#8221; your students online get a little inspiration about ways to expand or revise what you&#8217;ve been doing, both technology-wise and in terms of tasks and foci.<\/p>\n<p>I brought up Christopher Danielson&#8217;s book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stenhouse.com\/content\/which-one-doesnt-belong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Which One Doesn&#8217;t Belong<\/a>.
